Susan's Story

Susan Barton’s journey into dyslexia intervention did not start in a classroom. She spent 20 years building a successful career in the computer industry.

Her life took a new direction when she saw her nephew, Ben, struggling in school. By tenth grade, after years in special education, he was reading at a second-grade level and spelling at a first-grade level. His school believed nothing more could be done. Susan could not accept that.

Susan left her technology career to study dyslexia full time. She trained in several Orton-Gillingham based approaches and began tutoring students ages 6–17. Susan saw firsthand how the right instruction can change lives.
